9 Principles to achieve quality social and health services
All of us living in Europe use social and health services at some point in our lives. These services – from hospitals to childcare and residential services for older people – are central to our well-being as a society.
Today, across all Member States, the social and health services sector is shifting towards a two-tier system where poverty and discrimination are causing people to face reduced or no access to basic services. The quality of these essential services is suffering. What's needed is an EU quality framework that guarantees to the people of Europe social and health services that function well and are accessible to all who need them.
In September 2008, the Social Platform published a paper titled '9 Principles to Achieve Quality Social and Health Services' that proposes a starting point for a quality framework.
